Frosty The Snowman - Merry Christmas!

"Frosty the Snowman - Merry Christmas!"
This is a new drawing. I just drew this last night. I've been blogging old ones recently but I decided to blog a new one today. I decided to do a Christmas drawing last night, and I decided on this. It's based on the Rankin/Bass version of Frosty. The Frosty the Snowman cartoon from Rankin/Bass is a classic. Jimmy Durante gave a great narration for the show. There have been follow ups to the cartoon over the years. This Frosty cartoon gets shown every year, and in recent years it's been shown with a very different Frosty cartoon with John Goodman voicing the title character. That cartoon is titled Frosty Returns. Frosty is a classic Christmas character. He's as much a Christmas icon as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. As the artwork says, "merry Christmas!" Also, happy holidays.

This is my drawing for day 25 of Terri's "30 DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE." You're supposed to draw "your favourite sweet food/candy/etc (Terri)." I have a few favorites, actually, and this is one of them. This specifically is a drawing of a fun size Twix from a Christmas variety bag. The scallop in the right circle behind the Twix is because one of the circles on the wrapper is like that. At least it looks like a circle with a scallop on the wrapper. Art Projects

I've been thinking about ideas for art projects. I'm planning on getting The Drawing Board #13 done and posted on here within this week, or maybe Sunday of next week. I've been wanting to do an artwork as a tribute to our armed forces. I'm also thinking of doing a comic strip about Eliza Dushku. That last idea is inspired by the comics on NataliePortman.com. I'll be posting those artworks as soon as they're completed.

Sword of Omens

I was watching Thundercats last night and it occurred to me, there hasn't been a show like it since, or at least not many. For one thing, the animation is very realistic and detailed. Most animated action shows nowadays have a style similar to that of Batman: the Animated Series , or anime. Those types of animation are great, but there's been nothing that looks like Thundercats since the '80s or early '90s. Another thing is, as far as I remember, there also hasn't been many animated shows like it in the fantasy genre since. I think you could probably describe it as being somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I know there aren't talking cat people, living in a lair shaped like a giant cat, in either of those, but it sort of has the feel of those. Third Earth sort of resembles a world like the one in Lord of the Rings, with all kinds characters, but there is also technology like in Star Wars.
