Getting More Active in Art

I haven't had much to post this week. I'm hoping to do more art in the coming month. I wanted to start off the year doing more art but I haven't done much. I may post some old artworks as well. And, I'm thinking of doing more blog posts about art books. I did a blog post awhile back on Christopher Hart's Modern Cartooning. So, I plan to keep busy with my art.

Christopher Hart Contest

Christopher Hart has been posting about a contest on his journal on deviantART. He's putting one together. If you want to keep up to date on the contest, you can check out his deviantART page here. Christopher Hart has done contests in the past. I think it's a cool idea.

Shira Lazar

Here's a picture I drew of Shira Lazar some years ago. She put it on her site, though I believe at the time I hadn't colored it yet. She seemed to be impressed with it.

The Drawing Board and Other Art

I've been thinking about what to do next with The Drawing Board. I haven't done anything on it lately because I've been focused on other things. But, it would be cool to get some TDB comic strips done this year. I was in fact just thinking about some ideas for The Drawing Board. We'll see what happens. I haven't done as much art as I wanted to do at the start of the year. But, I hope to do a lot of art throughout the year. It's a new year. A new year for art!

This is an oil pastel artwork I started on last year. I finished it this week. My family and I got a Yorkie Puppy early last year and named her Ginger. I decided to do an oil pastel artwork of her, and this is that artwork. I finished it this week. Ginger is adorable, and I'm happy to have done an artwork of her. The artwork is based on a photo my dad took:

She's bigger and her hair looks different now than it does in this artwork, and she's as cute as ever. It's a big artwork, which is partly why I didn't scan it. It's undoubtedly too big for my scanner. Besides that, I was eager to frame it. I think it turned out really well, and I'm very proud of it.

My Third Logo 2014

Here's a variation on my third logo. I'm currently using it as my deviantID on deviantART. I used a variant of the logo with a blue background, added a frame in JASC Paint Shop Pro 8, and also in that program I added the year "2014." Below is a version of this picture with alternate coloring for the year:

Below that is the picture before the frame and the year:

Christopher Hart's You Tube Channel

Professional artist, and author of many how-to drawing books, Christopher Hart has a You Tube channel, here. He has some cool videos on there. He shows how to draw different types of characters and things. I recommend checking out his You Tube channel.

Jesus Our Savior

Here's another Jesus-related artwork. It's a small doodle I did it one of my sketchbooks. It scanned a good size. I digitally colored it. I used gradient coloring for the cross and the halo. For the background, I used a patterned fill.

Jesus Christ

I did this drawing some time ago. I decided one time to draw Jesus Christ. I think it looks pretty cool. Christmas was here not long ago, and as they say, Jesus is the reason for the season. Jesus is a very important figure in Earth's history.

AMC recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 1989 movie Batman. I love that movie! It's my favorite movie of all time. That movie is partly responsible for me wanting to be an artist. I dug this artwork I drew of Batman out of one of my page-holder things. It's one I did back in 2007. Batman is one of the greatest superheroes ever, and my all-time favorite!

Old Man Vincent

Here's another drawing from my sketchbook I got for Christmas. I named the character "Old Man Vincent" because he looks sort of like Vincent Price. I got a Sketching gift set that I'll be doing some drawings with. That will be cool. I hope to do a lot more drawing and other types of artwork this year. And maybe I'll blog on here more.

Christmas Will Return...

The words in this artwork are inspired by a song from the movie titled The Santa Clause. My family and I are always sad to see Christmas end, but it always comes back the next year. Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the decorations, Christmas movies, etc. Christmas will be back, and it'll be here before you know it.

Happy New Year, 2014!

It's a new year! I drew this recently from the sketchbook I got for Christmas. I've been meditating for awhile now. There are a lot of benefits from meditation. With meditation, you can be more at peace with yourself. I've been reading Meditation For Dummies, by Stephan Bodian. It's a very interesting and informative book. It's easy to understand, which I guess is why they call it Meditation For Dummies. I very much recommend this book, and meditation itself. Meditation is a great way to help you feel great.
