Golden Age Superman Logo, Regular and Aged

Image
I did this earlier today in paint shop program. This a 1024 x 768 desktop wallpaper of the golden age Superman logo. I used a triangle template for the triangles and the text feature for the "S". Not long afterward, I decided to enhance it, and the enhancement gave the wallpaper an aged look. Here is the result. I got these cool books for Christmas, The DC Vault and The Marvel Vault . These books tell the histories of DC and Marvel. Reading The DC Vault got me thinking about the golden age of Superman. I started also reading Superman Archives: Volume One . Clark Kent Started at the Daily Star. Superman was media shy like Batman, and he fought more earthly threats. Superman is an awesome character, and it's cool to see how he and his mythology has evolved over the decades. Superman is awesome!

Lelia Broussard II

Image
I decided to do another drawing of Lelia Broussard earlier. I drew more of her this time than I drew in the first one, titled "Lelia Broussard", which I drew and blogged last year. That drawing was a closeup profile of her face as she appeared in her music video for her song "Scared to Feel". Like the drawing in last night's blog post, I used some of my new art set, which my sister gave me as a Christmas present. I used an 8B pencil, and F pencil, and an H pencil. I went over it with a fixative. Lelia has been raising money for her new album through Kickstarter.com. You can check out her page on the site here .

John Mellencamp Postcard

Image
Tonight, using my Pro Art drawing set that I got for Christmas, I drew this picture of John Mellencamp, starting with a 2H pencil. Then I did the dark areas with a 6B sketch stick. I used a retractable eraser and a kneaded eraser to erase the smudges. Sometimes I use a retractable eraser or a block eraser. With the 6B sketch stick, I had to use the kneaded eraser. It worked better than a regular eraser. My sketchpad I've been using by the way, is a Carolinapad. It's 11 x 14 inches, so if I draw over an entire sheet of paper, the scanner won't get all of it. In cases like that, I use a digital camera to take a picture of the drawing. It's got 30 sheets, and I've used about 11 of them, so I've got 19 left. I haven't drawn John Mellencamp in awhile. I don't remember the last time I've drawn him. He has a goatee in the postcard I drew this from, but I neglected to redraw it after I went over it with the sketch stick. I decided to leave it as is. You migh

Conan O'Brien

Image
Here's a picture I drew earlier of Conan O'Brien. I'm with Coco! Team Conan! I think it's unfair what they did to Conan, and Jay Leno should have been the one to get the boot. Jay Leno was the one with the horribly low ratings. I've always liked Jay Leno, but I'm very disappointed in him for just going along with taking The Tonight Show back from Conan. He could have done the noble thing and left NBC for another network and let Conan stay on The Tonight Show. I have a feature to the right, a graphic of the "I'm With Coco" image, linking to ImWithCoco.com . Besides supporting Conan, they are also donating the proceeds from the shirts and posters to Haiti. Another cool site you may want to check out is ConanYourself.com , where you can make yourself look like Conan in a picture, as you can see I did below. I'm going to try not to dwell on what jerks the people at NBC are for forcing Conan off The Tonight Show , and the network, and how Jay went

Hulk Standing

Image
Here's a picture of the Hulk. I drew him in pencil, then inked him. Afterword I colored him with colored pencils. I could have cropped it, but I haven't been doing that with pictures from my newest sketch pad. I feel like posting the whole thing. Although actually it doesn't all get scanned. Since the pad is too big for my scanner, the edges of the drawings get cropped automatically by the scanner. I've got a drawing in my sketch pad that I haven't posted yet, because it's too big for my scanner. So I'll have to take a digital camera picture of it so I can post it on here and in my DeviantArt gallery. It's a drawing of Slimer as he appeared in Ghostbusters II . I'll have that on here eventually.

Pop Rocks

Image
I like Pop Rocks! I remember I had them, probably for the first time in the late '80s or early '90s. I hadn't had them for a long time after that. My mom and sister found them more recently and started getting them for me. I thought the company that makes them stopped production of them years ago, but thankfully they didn't. By the way, the Mythbusters proved that Pop Rocks and cola won't make your stomach explode or anything. I even tried Pop Rocks and cola myself after that episode of Mythbusters , and the Mythbusters were right. I figured it was safe, since they proved it was. Here, below, is the picture that the drawing is based on. My sister made this.

The Laughing Man

Image
Here's a picture I drew in 2009. I drew this picture, which is of course inspired by Heath Ledger as The Joker, with oil pastels. Originally, I just drew the face and that was it. Tonight, I decided to digitally enhance it, which is where the background comes in, as well as the yellow on the teeth.

Ecto Ball

Image
I'm really getting into drawing more since I got my sketch pad for Christmas. I started out this drawing with the idea to just draw a green ball. I figured I'd work on lighting. I thought about Ghostbusters and that gave me the idea to title the drawing "Ecto Ball". I added the green waves for an effect that would make it look like a ball of ectoplasm. I drew the outline of the ball in pencil, then I colored it with oil pastels. On a side note, a week or two ago I beat Ghostbusters: The Video Game on the casual setting! And I did it in a week and a half!

Cartoon Freddy

Image
Here's another picture I drew of Freddy, my childhood friend. I digitally colored this one. I thought I'd try drawing Freddy as a cartoon character.

Mmm, Burger.

Image
This drawing, like the "I Love Pizza" drawing, is pretty self explanatory. After doing a drawing for my favorite food, the aforementioned pizza, I decided to do one for burgers. My mom and dad got me a McDonald's gift card for Christmas, and on the to and from card that came with it, they put from them to me, and then they put "Mmm, burgers." Part of why I did this drawing was to put that saying on it.

I Love Pizza

Happy New Year! It's 2010! Not only is it the start of a new year, but it's also the start of a new decade! I just did this drawing tonight, and it's pretty self explanatory. This is the third drawing in the sketch pad I got for Christmas. The drawings in the previous posts are the first two. I look forward to filling it with some really cool drawings. And I look forward to seeing what the new year brings.
