Martha Jones

Image
"Martha Jones" Here's one of my Doctor Who drawings. This one is of Martha Jones, one of the Tenth Doctor's companions. She's from the post-revival era of Doctor Who . She was a cool companion. This is one of those drawings on a page of doodles I'd done. I used a paint shop program to give it a better effect. Happy holidays!

The Face Of Gus

Image
"The Face of Gus" Here's something I drew last year. It's just one of those drawings that I didn't necessarily have anything in mind for, and I just started drawing. I named him Gus. I thought that name suited him. The title of the drawing is a nod to the Face of Boe on Doctor Who , since the drawing is just of a face, or a head actually.

Doctor Who, Series Nine

Image
"Doctor Who" I thought this would be a good opportunity to post one of my Doctor Who artworks again. I posted it before, here . Series nine of Doctor Who premieres tonight. It will be airing on one of the BBC channels in the UK, and on BBC America. It will be the second series, or season, to feature Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. It will also be Jenna Coleman's third series, second full one, and last series since it's been reported that she's leaving the show after series nine. I'll miss her. I'm looking forward to the premiere and I think it will be interesting to see what Capaldi's second series will be like.

Jagrafess Rough Sketch

Image
"Jagrafess Rough Sketch" This is a rough sketch of an alien character from series one of Doctor Who, post revival. This is one of the villains that the Ninth Doctor had to deal with. The adventure that this creature appeared in was set in the future on a space station.

Sister Of Plenitude

Image
"Sister of Plenitude" This is a member of the Sisters of Plenitude. They appeared in some episodes of Doctor Who . One in particular called on the Tenth Doctor when the Face of Boe was dying. The Face of Boe had a secret to tell the Doctor before he passed away. I believe the first episode they appeared in was the Tenth Doctor episode with the then body-swapping Cassandra. The sisters are cat-like humanoids. This is one of my latest Doctor Who sketches.

Gelth

Image
"Gelth" This is a Gelth, a character from the first series of Doctor Who , post revival. There is an episode where the ninth incarnation of the Doctor, and Rose, travel back in time to Cardiff and meet Charles Dickens. They end up encountering these creatures of fire, the Gelth. It's a cool episode. I like drawing these Doctor Who characters.

The Face Of Boe

Image
"The Face of Boe" This is another Doctor Who character I sketched. It's been said that Captain Jack Harness may at some point become the Face of Boe. I thought this was a good exercise in texture. The Face of Boe has a very textured face. I'm not sure if you'd call it scaly or rocky looking, or what. I used cross hatching for some of the less darker areas on his face. I decided with these sketches that I want to do cross hatching for some more or less dark areas. I want to leave other dark areas for possible digital coloring. I might decide to do that at some point with these Doctor Who sketches.

Adipose, Take 2

Image
"Adipose, Take 2" I decided to redo that adipose drawing I did awhile back. Over the weekend, I thought about doing sketches of all the Doctor Who characters in my Doctor Who Character Encyclopedia . I might do that. I'll keep drawing the characters and see how far I go with that. I thought I'd start with the redrawing of the adipose. I don't yet know what Doctor Who character I'll draw next. I'm thinking of doing hatching and crosshatching for the shadowy areas from now on. I might do these sketches like comic book drawings. Doing daily Doctor Who sketches might be fun, so, like I said, I'll see how far I go with it.

September's Coming To An End

As I was trying to think of a title for this post, I remembered that Green Day song. I think it's titled "Wake Me Up When September Ends." September is just about over. I'm excited about it because of two things. The first thing is that I get to change my Doctor Who calendar to the Tenth Doctor. The second thing is that October is the start of the holidays. It would be a good time to do some drawings of werewolves and things like that. It would also be a good time to read some scary books and watch scary movies. Watching horror movies is how I celebrate Halloween. I go more for the classic type of horror movies like The Wolf Man . As far as books, I've read a book by Stephen King titled Cycle of the Werewolf . It's a short book, but it's great. It's got art by Bernie Wrightson in it. I believe Wrightson has also illustrated a Frankenstein story. I'm trying to think of other artists who have done horror art. I checked out a book before, about drawi...

Art Studies

I think it was the year before last that I studied Vincent Van Gogh. I read a book about him. I also watched a DVD about letters from him, I think to his brother. It was narrated by John Hurt, who played the War Doctor in last year's Doctor Who: the Day of the Doctor. I have a book my sister bought for me, I think last year, about Vincent Van Gogh. I think I might read that soon. I've been interested in John Mellencamp's paintings. I've got a book about them titled Mellencamp: Paintings and Reflections . He's done some interesting artworks. I think I might continue to study different artists and types of art.

Peter Capaldi

Image
"Peter Capaldi" Here's a picture I drew of Peter Capaldi recently. I did it as a line drawing. I think it turned out pretty well, but I'm considering redrawing it. Doctor Who 's new season, the eighth one, starts I think in two or three months. I think it will be cool to see Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. I'm curious to see how it will all look. They'll no doubt have a new opening credits sequence. The previous one had Matt Smith's face in it. I'll miss Matt Smith as the Doctor, but it will be cool to see how Peter Capaldi does.

Adipose

Image
"Adipose" This is an adipose, a creature from Doctor Who . In an episode of Doctor Who , people take a pill made by Adipose Industries, and these little creatures grow inside their bodies and absorb their fat. Then, they burst out of their bodies ( Doctor Who  10). I recently thought about drawing a Doctor Who character, and I drew this. Adipose have a very simple appearance. They look like marshmallows. Weird Face

Image
"Weird Face" Here's a Cartoon drawing I did recently. I just thought I'd draw a guy making a weird face. I tried to give him sort of a hairdo like David Tennant's on Doctor Who. I drew this in pencil on Pacon heavy-weight drawing pad paper. It's nine inches by 12 inches. I used a Sharpie pen and Sharpie fine-point permanent marker to ink it.

New Look for My Blog

I just changed the look for my blog. I decided I wanted something different. I don't think I want to change the look too often because I think a familiar look helps make my blog more recognizable. My blog has gone through many different designs. I like to think of it as sort of like the TARDIS interior on Doctor Who . It changes occasionally. I think this newest design looks cool, and I might stick with it for awhile.

The 11th Doctor's Goodbye

It was announced today, by BBC, that Matt Smith will be leaving Doctor Who after the 2013 Christmas special. This is sad news to me and all the 11th Doctor fans, and possibly even fans of The Doctor in general. Minutes ago, I posted a journal entry about it on my deviantART page. You can check out that journal entry here .

Caricature of Matt Smith as The Doctor

Image
"Caricature of Matt Smith as The Doctor" I drew this last night. I didn't do a lot of shading. I figured it would be best to save it in case I digitally color it. In some cases, if you shade in the inking stage, there's a risk of making the person look like they have a black eye or dirt on their face. I've done quite a few Doctor Who drawings since I've become a Whovian. This is my latest.

Doctor Who

Image
"Doctor Who" This is the Doctor Who drawing I've been working on since last year. I just finished it tonight. I think it turned out pretty well. It's a drawing of the 12 incarnations of The Doctor, and his TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), which is disguised as a 1960's police box.  It's a fitting night to have finished it too. A new episode of Doctor Who was on on BBC America earlier tonight. It was titled "The Crimson Horror." I think it may have been one of the more bizarre episodes, and I mean that in a good way. Diana Rigg and her daughter were in it. So far, the second half of series seven has been very different from the first half, but very cool. I've become much more interested in the classic era of Doctor Who than I was before. At first, I was pretty much just focused on the revival era. However, I've been watching The Doctors Revisited specials each month this year, and I'm finding that the classic...

Doctor Who Drawing

I'm nearly finished with my Doctor Who drawing. I've just got two more Doctors and a TARDIS to draw, in the drawing. I'm keeping it pretty simple. I'm using pencil, a Sharpie pen, and a Sharpie fine point marker. I sketch out one Doctor at a time in pencil, and then ink him. Later, of course, I'll be sketching and then inking a version of the TARDIS. I'm just about finished with it. Once I am, I'll post it on here.

Stuff Coming Up

I've got things coming up. I've got something special coming up soon, in a blog post. I'm also planning on doing an artwork of mine and my family's Yorkie puppy, Ginger. I'm thinking of doing it either in oil pastel or colored pencil. I may have to take a digital camera picture of it if I post it on here. I'm sure it'll be too big for my scanner. I'm thinking of trying to finish up the Doctor Who artwork this week. I've been thinking about what I'm going to title it. So, those are my latest projects.

Doctor Who Artwork Progress

I've done some more work on my Doctor Who artwork. I've now got all of the first seven Doctors on it. I added two more Saturday night. "The End of Time," an episode of Doctor Who , was on that night. It was the 10th Doctor's last episode. It was sad to see him go. At the same time however, it was cool to see the 11th Doctor's first appearance. The incarnation thing seems complicated. The 10th Doctor talked about how, when he regenerated, he'd become a whole other person in a way. But, at other  times, he recalls memories of other incarnations as though it was his who experienced them. I've got four incarnations left to draw on the artwork, then I'll draw the TARDIS. I plan to blog the artwork on here, once I'm finished.
