A Painting in Progress

Image
"ICU (2)" Here's a painting I started on last year. It's a two part painting. I have two small canvases on two small easels. I painted a left eye on the right canvas first. I haven't done the other one yet, but I might do it soon. I used acrylic paint for this painting. I've used it a lot in the past. It's fun to work with. I've painted pumpkins with it, among other things. In the past, I did all cartoony paintings with acrylic paint. So, to do a painting with shading and various hues was sort of new to me on this. The next part of this painting will simply be titled "ICU."

Cee-Lo

Image
"Cee-Lo" It's Cee-Lo! This is the artwork that I was going to wait to say what it was. I think Cee-Lo is cool. He does some good music. I've got one of the Gnarls Barkley albums. That's how I became familiar with him. I think this is the first artwork of mine that I've digitally colored since "Me at Christmas Time." I used a textured fill for the background. I started out drawing this on paper with a mechanical pencil. Then I used Sharpies. The mechanical pencil is a Pentel 0.7mm. The Sharpies are a fine point Sharpie, and a Sharpie pen. I think the paper was Georgia-Pacific printer paper. I sometimes use that because it's closest at hand. It works well. Mostly though, I use my printer paper for printing. This is my first drawing of Cee-Lo, and I think it turned out well.

Art in Progress

I drew a picture last night that I think is very cool. I'm planning on digitally coloring it. Once I'm done with that, I'll blog it. I think I'll wait until I blog it to say what it is. I watched the second special of The Doctor Revisited on BBC America last night. I thought that Patrick Troughton's portrayal of The Doctor was really interesting. I think I would love to more of the episodes he portrayed him in. I already drew him in that Doctor Who drawing I started work on last year. I also did a rough sketch of just him as The Doctor. I would like to do more drawings of him. I'll be thinking about that.

Coffee is Great!

Image
"Coffee and Beans" Coffee, in my opinion, is one of the greatest discoveries of humankind. I drew this on the back of one of my sketchbooks. I drew it in pencil, and then inked it with Sharpies. There was probably a time when I never would have thought I would like coffee, but now I think it's a great drink.

Mole Man Drawing

I drew a couple pictures of Mole Man, the Fantastic Four villain. I may draw another one. I'm not quite satisfied with the pose. For now, I think I'll set it aside and work on the Doctor Who drawing, or another Marvel one.

It's a Vampire Drawing, Bleh, Bleh!

Image
"Vampire Head" This is a cartoon vampire I drew last night. I think he kind of looks like the vampire on The Totally Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley . I was thinking my next drawing would be Mole Man, from Marvel Comics. I've got a Marvel Avengers character guide book. It's got lots of Avengers-related characters in it. I thought I'd try drawing each character in it. I'll have to think of poses and possible backgrounds that I want to draw them in. I don't know for sure if I'll even draw backgrounds for them. I might do them in my comic book style, rather than cartoon style. So, I'll see what happens with that.

Ginger Name

Image
"Ginger Name" Here's another Ginger drawing. I decided to do some kind of graphic with her name. She's adorable. This is another drawing from my Dark Knight Rises sketchbook. I've still got several pages in it. When I started using it, I intended to do just Batman drawings in it. I ended up doing a variety of drawings in it. We love Ginger, and we're proud to have her as a member of the family.

My Blog, 2013, and Beyond

I'm thinking about what to do with my blog in 2013. In past years, I've put up a special banner for holidays and such. I'm thinking of doing that regularly from this year on. I'll either reuse old banners and such, or I'll create new ones. I'll see what I come up with for these  things. They aren't necessarily major things. However, it's nice to have my blog reflect, for example, Christmas. I like to have it do that, and not look like it's just another day or month. So, my intention is to have my blog look festive at times throughout the year.

Arrow

I'm watching Arrow on CW right now. I haven't watched it for several episodes. It's a cool show. The first two episodes or so, I missed because my family and I were watching Christmas movie. I didn't want to miss out on a Christmas tradition, so I figured I could watch Arrow online later. Arrow is one of those things that I'd like to do an artwork for. I never got much into Green Arrow before, but I like the idea of a superhero with a bow and arrow. He's a Robin Hood type. So, I may see what kind of Arrow artwork I can come up with. It would either Arrow , or the comic book version of Green Arrow.

Cartoon Ginger

Image
"Cartoon Ginger" Here's a cartoon picture I drew of mine and my family's little Yorkie puppy, Ginger. My family says she's like a Mini Me of myself. I've held her a few times, and when you do that, she likes to lick your face. I think it's cool that we named her Ginger. My mom came up with the name. Ginger is a cute little thing.

Ginger Sketch

Image
"Ginger Sketch" This is a sketch I did of my mine and my family's Yorkie puppy, Ginger. She's a cute little thing. We got her recently. She's smart. I'm sure I'll be doing more artworks of her. She's a bundle of energy sometimes. Ginger is adorable.

Hand Study

Image
"Hand Study" I thought I'd do a quick blog post. Here's a rough sketch of my hand. I drew it in my Dark Knight Rises sketchbook. I hope everybody's having a great weekend.

The Dark Knight Rises Sketchbooks

Image
These are The Dark Knight Rises sketchbooks I got for Christmas. The left one is the large one, and the right one is a mini sketchbook. All of the drawings from one of these sketchbooks so far has come from the large one. I have yet to draw anything in the mini one. They also come with pencils, an eraser, and a pencil sharpener. I think the whole kit is really cool (Unknown). Works Cited Unknown. Untitled. DC Comics. New York.

Mad Scientist

Image
"Mad Scientist" Here's a cartoony picture I drew of a mad scientist. I gave him a slight resemblance to Doc Brown in Back to the Future . This is another one of my drawings from my Dark Knight Rises sketchbook. I might blog the TDKR sketchbooks themselves tomorrow or Friday. I figure it might be cool to show what the covers look like, in case you haven't seen those types of sketchbooks anywhere. So, That's coming up this week.

Doctors, Doctors

Last year I started on a Doctor Who artwork, of all 11 doctors. I set it aside and got busy with other stuff. I'm thinking of getting back to work on it, and completing it soon. Doctor Who is a great show. I've been watching it on BBC America and DVD. This year marks the 50th anniversary. There are specials airing in celebration this year. One already aired that focused on the first incarnation of The Doctor. You can check out the BBC site for the show here , or the BBC America site for it here , for more information. There's also a worldwide site for the 50th anniversary of the show here . I may do more Doctor Who artworks. Doctor Who is becoming more popular than ever. It's a great show!

February

It's a new month! I've started posting a blog entry Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays every week. I've read that it's good to post consistently on your blog. I'll try to do that as much as I can. I've still got some pages in my The Dark Knight Rises sketch book to draw in. I've also got a mini TDKR sketcbook. I've only drawn in two pages of my other new sketchbook so far. I'll see what artworks I do this month.
