Movie Review - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a great follow-up to the first movie! It really captures the spirit of the comics. Spider-Man wearing a fireman’s helmet and using a fire hose is the kind of thing I would expect in the comics.

The characters are great. Jamie Foxx did a great job as Electro. His portrayal of a nerdy Spider-Man fan turned super villain was fantastic. Dane Dehaan as Harry Osborn was great. He was sympathetic but also there was a mean streak to him. I thought Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich, a.k.a Rhino, was really cool. The mechanical suit is different from the comics, but it works. Returning cast members Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Sally Field once again gave great performances. There’s one character in particular that I think everyone should watch out for. Her name is Felicia, and if she’s who I think she is, she may return in future movies.

There’s a lot of humor and drama and action in this movie. Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, is going through some things. He’s trying to learn more about his parents, he’s trying to work out his relationship with Gwen Stacy, and his friend Norman Osborn, soon to become Green Goblin, asks for his help with a problem. Things get tough for Peter.

Spider-Man fans probably won’t be surprised by the sad ending to the movie. Other people may be surprised. And there’s a setup for a future movie further into the ending. As always, it’s a good idea to stay through the credits. A least a good ways in.

This may, in my opinion at least, be the best Spider-Man movie yet. I believe it has everything a Spidey fan could want, and non Spidey fans may enjoy it very much as well. I very much recommend The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It’s freaking awesome!!!

I have a few favorites, actually, and this is one of them. This specifically is a drawing of a fun size Twix from a Christmas variety bag. The scallop in the right circle behind the Twix is because one of the circles on the wrapper is like that. At least it looks like a circle with a scallop on the wrapper. Sword of Omens

I was watching Thundercats last night and it occurred to me, there hasn't been a show like it since, or at least not many. For one thing, the animation is very realistic and detailed. Most animated action shows nowadays have a style similar to that of Batman: the Animated Series , or anime. Those types of animation are great, but there's been nothing that looks like Thundercats since the '80s or early '90s. Another thing is, as far as I remember, there also hasn't been many animated shows like it in the fantasy genre since. I think you could probably describe it as being somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I know there aren't talking cat people, living in a lair shaped like a giant cat, in either of those, but it sort of has the feel of those. Third Earth sort of resembles a world like the one in Lord of the Rings, with all kinds characters, but there is also technology like in Star Wars. Art Projects

I've been thinking about ideas for art projects. I'm planning on getting The Drawing Board #13 done and posted on here within this week, or maybe Sunday of next week. I've been wanting to do an artwork as a tribute to our armed forces. I'm also thinking of doing a comic strip about Eliza Dushku. That last idea is inspired by the comics on NataliePortman.com. I'll be posting those artworks as soon as they're completed.
