"Happy New Year" I never blogged this drawing before, and I thought it would be appropriate for New Year's Day. It's a drawing I did on scratch paper. You scratch off the black stuff and a different color shows through. In this case, multiple colors show through. It sort of looks like a rainbow pattern of colors. I had a great New Year's Eve with my family. I'm disappointed that the holidays are coming to an end, but I'm also kind of interested to see what the new year brings. Here's hoping 2017 will be an awesome year. Happy New Year!

"Spirograph Outtake" Here's an outtake from my Spirograph drawings. It's not perfect, but I think it looks pretty good. Actress Eliza Dushku's birthday is today. Happy birthday, Eliza! It's also New Year's Eve eve. 2016 has been a rough year, and I'm sure everyone wants a happy 2017. Here's hoping it will be a good one.

"Butler" Here's a drawing from some years ago. I didn't necessarily intend for it to be of Alfred from Batman, but he kind of looks like him. Happy new year!

It's a new year! I think I will try to blog on here more in this year than I did the last. I have some ideas about what I'm going to do in the new year, art wise. For one thing, I would like to try to draw everyday this year. I would also like to sharpen my skills. I basically hope to be more active in my art this year. I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve, and that they have a great 2016. Happy New Year!

  These, in the pictures above, are two of the gifts I got for Christmas. I think they're awesome! The first one at the very top is a book my sister made on Shutterfly with art and comic strips from my comic strip series titled The Drawing Board . The Second one below that is a 2016 calendar my sister also made on Shutterfly with a variety of my art in it. I can't say enough how much I appreciate my sister making these gifts for me. I've already put up the calendar even though the new year isn't here yet. I have a really awesome sister! I hope everyone has been having happy holidays and will have a happy new year.

"Frosty the Snowman - Merry Christmas!" This is a new drawing. I just drew this last night. I've been blogging old ones recently but I decided to blog a new one today. I decided to do a Christmas drawing last night, and I decided on this. It's based on the Rankin/Bass version of Frosty. The Frosty the Snowman cartoon from Rankin/Bass is a classic. Jimmy Durante gave a great narration for the show. There have been follow ups to the cartoon over the years. This Frosty cartoon gets shown every year, and in recent years it's been shown with a very different Frosty cartoon with John Goodman voicing the title character. That cartoon is titled Frosty Returns . Frosty is a classic Christmas character. He's as much a Christmas icon as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. As the artwork says, "merry Christmas!" Also, happy holidays.

"Joker Card" Here's a Joker drawing I did some years ago, based on Heath Ledger's Joker. I originally drew it on paper, and I thought it would be cool to make it look like a playing card in my paint shop program. The Dark Knight was a great movie. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new Batman film mythology will be like with Ben Affleck's Batman and Jared Leto's Joker. While I do have favorites, I wouldn't say that any one actor is a better Batman or Joker. They're all great in their own ways. So, I think that Heath Ledger will always have been a  brilliant Joker.

I did a book review of Modern Cartooning for Christopher Hart awhile back. I'm thinking about doing more book reviews/recommendations, in the near future. I might also post things like videos from artists on You Tube. There are some cool videos on there of artists drawing. Sometimes the videos are sped up because it takes quite awhile to do the drawings. I may try to do more blogging in the new year, and those are some of the things I have in mind.

It's 2015! A New Year's resolution of mine is to make more art. I plan to draw everyday. I didn't draw as much as I felt like I should have in 2014, so I'm going to work on that this year. I look forward to seeing what kind of artworks I make in 2015. Happy New Year!

My family and I finished up watching The Santa Clause trilogy last night. It's great. I've imagined making a Santa Clause comic before that takes place after the movies. If I get ambitious enough, I might try to do that some time. I changed the background on my blog to a Christmas background. I'm thinking of changing it to an all-new background in the new year. I'm also thinking about blogging a Christmas-themed artwork soon.

"Arrow/The Flash Sketches" I'm a major comic book geek, and I've been into the new comic book shows on TV, and the ones that have been around a season or two, or three. I recently did these sketches. Clockwise from the top, there's the Flash, Arrow, the chest of the Flash's costume, and Captain Boomerang. The shows Arrow and The Flash are great. I especially like The Flash . That show is lighter in tone. I like gritty, but sometimes lighter is refreshing. Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Flash, is kind of a funny character, but not so funny that he's a joke. Arrow is a gritty character and his show has a more serious tone. Other super heroes are appearing on these shows. Firestorm appeared on the mid-season finale of The Flash . Ray Palmer is appearing on Arrow , and he will eventually become The Atom. There are almost enough comic book shows for every day of the week. There's The Flash and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Tuesdays, Arrow on Wednesdays, and ...

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an excellent movie! It's an epic film with an ensemble cast. In my opinion, X-Men is always awesome. Add to that time travel, and it's beyond awesome! It's cool to see some of the cast from X-Men First Class , and some of the cast from the other X-Men movies, come together. It's exciting! It's all about the fate of mutant, and even human kind. Mystique plays a very important part in this movie, and I think that's cool. There has never been much focus on her in the movies. Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Mystique is really phenomenal. Wolverine also plays a big part in this movie and I think it's always cool to see him. Hugh Jackman has done a fantastic job of translating Wolverine to film over the years. James McAvoy gives a very dramatic portrayal of Professor Xavier. I could go on and on. There are lots of characters in this movie, and they're portrayed greatly by their actors. "Apple Line Art" I got a sketching gift set for Christmas last year. It contains the book titled Sketching Basics , by Alois Fabry. This drawing above is one I did for the first project in the book. The first project is line art. Line art is "without shading or tone." The way you draw the lines conveys things like dimension . One of the things Alois Fabry suggests drawing for the project is an apple. So, my sister bought me an apple from the store, and I drew it in the sketch pad that came in the sketching gift set (Fabry 18). I like the idea of line art. It's simple in a way, and if you don't want to get into shading and all that, it's a good type of drawing to do. I think I'd like to try making the lines thinner in some areas. That might be better for giving it dimension than having the lines thick all the way around, like on the apple. I'm looking forward to doing more from the book. It looks like I may learn some new things with it. ...

"The Drawing Board Cast" I've been thinking about what to do next with The Drawing Board . I haven't done anything on it lately because I've been focused on other things. But, it would be cool to get some TDB comic strips done this year. I was in fact just thinking about some ideas for The Drawing Board. We'll see what happens. I haven't done as much art as I wanted to do at the start of the year. But, I hope to do a lot of art throughout the year. It's a new year. A new year for art!

"Meditation" It's a new year! I drew this recently from the sketchbook I got for Christmas. I've been meditating for awhile now. There are a lot of benefits from meditation. With meditation, you can be more at peace with yourself. I've been reading Meditation For Dummies , by Stephan Bodian. It's a very interesting and informative book. It's easy to understand, which I guess is why they call it Meditation For Dummies . I very much recommend this book, and meditation itself. Meditation is a great way to help you feel great.

"Peace Sign With Wings" I got a new sketchbook for Christmas. This is the first drawing I did on it. I drew it on the back cover. I drew it in pencil and then used markers to ink it and color it. The peace symbol is a great one. It has great meaning. I tried to give the picture a psychedelic background. I hope everyone has had a merry Christmas, and will have a happy New Year.

"Draw" I got some new drawing pads some time ago this year, and this is the first drawing I've done from one of them. I think I was actually thinking about how I needed to draw more when I drew this. That's why I drew the word "draw," several times. Those drawing pads are cool. That particular one had a certain texture to it. I think it worked out well.
