Schoolism

Today I just thought I'd mention Schoolism. Bobby Chiu, a professional artist, talks about Schoolism on his deviantART page. Schoolism can help you on your way to becoming a professional artist. I recommend checking it out, and maybe you'll want to sign up. For more information, you can check out the site here . The sign up page is here .

Miscellaneous Musings

Image
First off, it's the latter part of 2015 and I still haven't created a new deviantID for my deviantART page yet. I haven't had any ideas for it. I know that when I do come up with something, I'm not going to date it like my current one. Until then, I'll either leave the current one up or I might use an old one in it's place. Christopher Hart has a YouTube page. You can check it out at www.youtube.com/user/chrishart… . He has some cool videos on there. He has a lot of videos about how to draw this and that. He's also on here, as you can see from the icon at the beginning of this paragraph. He's got a great sense of humor and he's a pro at drawing and teaching people how to draw with his how-to-draw books. I'm currently reading his book titled The Master Guide to Drawing Anime . He's an inspiration to me and everyone else who reads his books. Grimm: The Coins of Zakynthos graphic novel I'm currently reading the graphic novel titled G...

Blah

Image
"Blah" People are in a blah or dull mood sometimes. I have been. I hadn't done much with dA muro on deviantART in awhile, so I did this artwork. I should probably practice drawing more on dA muro. I draw very well on my paint shop programs on my computer, but I haven't had much experience doing that on dA muro. Usually when I use dA muro, I do something like abstract art on it. I don't usually go for any kind of realism. But I may give that a try on dA muro some time. I think, however, it can be fun to just mess around with the brushes and do something kind of spontaneous.

Christopher Hart

I recommend keeping up to date on Christopher Hart's work on ChristopherHartBooks.com . Christopher Hart is a professional artist and author. As I believe I've mentioned before, you can follow him on deviantART and Facebook. He posts some funny, wacky multiple choice questions, and he talks about making it as a professional artist. I've read some of his how-to books and they're very helpful to me as an artist. His latest book is How to Get Published as a Manga Artist . I recommend checking that out as well. It can be very helpful not only to manga artists, but other artists as well.

My Third Logo 2014

Image
"My Third Logo 2014" Here's a variation on my third logo. I'm currently using it as my deviantID on deviantART. I used a variant of the logo with a blue background, added a frame in JASC Paint Shop Pro 8, and also in that program I added the year "2014." Below is a version of this picture with alternate coloring for the year: "My Third Logo 2014 (a)" Below that is the picture before the frame and the year: "My Third Logo Blue Background"

Christopher Hart's Assignment #3, on deviantART

Image
"Worried Face" Here's my submission for Christopher Hart's "Assignment #3." For this assignment, he showed us a confident-looking character he drew. He wanted us to draw the character with a worried expression. This is what I came up with. I drew the basic look of the character, but I drew him more in my style. I wanted it to be clear that I was drawing that character as the assignment says to, but try to avoid making it look too much like Christopher Hart's style. I usually draw a more pronounced jaw line, but I kept the original jaw line for this character, as I did with the head shape in the submission I titled "Goofy Face." I figured his eyebrows would be tilted. I thought to add more intensity to it, I'd express his worry through his mouth as well, and I added some sweat to his temple. I think this drawing turned out pretty well. You can see Christopher Hart's journal post, on deviantART, about the assignment here .

Christopher Hart's Assignment Number 2, on deviantART

Image
"Goofy Face" I just submitted my work for an art assignment from Christopher Hart. You can see the work above. The assignment is at on deviantART, here . Basically, he showed a cartoon face he drew, and he said to redraw it. He told us to make up our own features and expression. I drew a goofy-looking guy with crossed eyes and buck teeth, and kind of a funny hairdo. It's a little like Ed Grimley's slicked up point on the front of his hair. I drew it in more of my own style. This is the second assignment from Christopher Hart, and I think he's doing more of these. I think it's a cool idea.

Draw, Draw, Draw!

I haven't done a lot of drawing lately, which is why I haven't posted much. I intend to get back into drawing big time. I've read that you should draw everyday to keep your skills sharp. So, that's what I plan to do. I haven't been working on the "Ginger" artwork frequently lately, but I think I've more or less got a huge portion of it done. I did a Batman drawing last night and I think it turned out really well so far. My skills are still pretty sharp. I did try to do a couple drawings before it that didn't turn out the way I'd hoped, but this one I think is going good. I'm not finished with it yet, so I won't be posting it in this blog entry. I've got to work on the shading. In the meantime, here's a journal entry I posted on my deviantART page. It's about a fellow deviant on there named KyaValentine. I recommend checking out her page. She's got some cool stuff on there.

Five Years on deviantART

Image
"My (First) deviantID" This is my fifth year on deviantART. I've upload lots and lots of artworks on there. deviantART is like Facebook in someways. You can connect to other artists on there. I've got a bunch of artists on my deviantWATCH, which is like a friend list. I've got various artists on there, some like J. Scott Campbell for example. deviantART is a great place to show your artwork, and see artwork from other artists. deviantART has been up for quite awhile. I first joined in 2008, and my first "deviation," which is a name for artworks submitted on there, was "Tru Faith." You can see that artwork below. "Tru Faith" You can use folders on there to put your deviations in. It's great if you want to highlight certain drawings or put your artworks into categories. I have several folders in my gallery. I also have what's called a "scrapbook." Your scrapbook features artwork that doesn't show up in th...

Wednesday Workings

It seems like I just blogged a post yesterday, and here I am doing another one. I'm not complaining though. I've got some artworks I'm working on, mainly my Ginger artwork. I've worked some more on the Ginger artwork. It looks like it's coming along pretty well. I hope to make it a great representation of our cute little Yorkie puppy. The photo it's based on is an early one of Ginger. She looks very different now from how she did then. Part of why I chose the particular picture was that it has bright colors in it. I seem to remember reading about how Vincent Van Gogh liked to work with bright colors. I also thought it was a cute, peaceful picture of Ginger. She looks like she's sleeping in it. deviantART has updated the journal feature on their site. The journal feature has new features that it didn't have before. You can use bold, italic, etc. It seems like it's closer to how blogs work on Blogger. I'm looking forward to future use of the t...

My Third Logo, Psychadelic Version

Image
"My Third Logo, Psychedelic Version" I designed this yesterday as a new deviantID, for my deviantART profile. I used JASC Paintshop Pro. I basically used a halftone effect, from the Artistic Effects section, on my logo. Next, I added a frame from the frame feature. I've used a few different logos for my deviantID over time. This is my latest deviantID logo. It really stands out on my deviantART page.

Movie Review of Sorts - Men in Black 3

I watched Men in Black 3 this past weekend, but hadn't gotten around to doing my review of sorts until today. I posted it here , on deviantART. So, if you'd like to read it, check it out.

My Reviews of Sorts on deviantART

I did my first "review of sorts" as a deviation on deviantART. It's a movie review for the film titled Jack Reacher . You can check it out here .

What's Going On

If you haven't seen it yet, or lately, I have an art blog on Tumblr. I've made a lot of posts on there. You can check it out here . I'm going to be working on my 12th drawing the " Drawing Challenge " that "Terribly" created on deviantART. I'm planning on doing more work on that Doctor Who drawing I mentioned previously. I'm thinking of writing a story of some kind, likely just for fun. So that's "what's going on (Terri)."   Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . 30 Day Drawing Challenge, Part III

If I post my artworks for the drawing challenge, from "Terribly" , here's how I think I'll do it. I'll create a category in my deviantART gallery for them, and blog the category on here. By doing that, I won't have to play catch up here on my blog, posting each drawing. I did today's challenge earlier. This is the eighth day of the challenge for me (Terri).   Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . Terri. http://terribly.deviantart.com/art/30-DAY-ART-CHALLENGE-330788048

30 Day Drawing Challenge, Part II

So far, in the "30 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE (sic)," I've drawn six things. I've drawn myself, Eliza Dushku, a friend from school, a chihuahua, my pajamas, and a brain. There are 24 days to go in the challenge. I'm definitely thinking about getting digital camera pictures of the first three drawings so I can start blogging my challenge drawings. It looks like the challenge will take me into the first full week in November. I'm really enjoying this challenge. If you're taking the "Terribly's" "30 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE (sic)," I hope you're enjoying it also (Terri).   Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . 30 Day Drawing Challenge

I've been calling the art challenge, from "Terribly," the "30 Day Art Challenge." It actually depends on whether you're looking at the deviation/artwork, or the title below it. The deviation says "30 DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE," and the title below it says "30 DAY ART CHALLENGE." I've done my fourth challenge tonight. I drew it on a sheet of printer paper, so it would fit easily into my scanner. I think this challenge is helping me with the artistic process. I haven't been able to think of much to draw lately. But, this challenge has got me thinking about what else I can draw. I think Terribly had a great idea with this "30 Day Drawing Challenge." If you're an artist, and you do any drawing, I recommend trying it (Terri). Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . Terri. http://terribly.deviantart.com/art/30-DAY-ART-CHALLENGE-330788048

30 Day Art Challenge, Part II

It occurred to me that I could post my art for the "Art Challenge" on here (Terri). I've already done the second one. It and the first one are on large sheets of paper, and I have a regular-size scanner, so if I post them I'll have to take digital pictures of them and post those. Also, if I post them, I may want to post the first two or so artworks in one post so I don't get behind on posting them on here. So, I'll work it out somehow if I decide to post them. Until then, salutations! Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . Terri. http://terribly.deviantart.com/art/30-DAY-ART-CHALLENGE-330788048

30 Day Art Challenge

I'm following deviantART's fan page on Facebook, and they posted this . It's a "30 day Art challenge." I'm planning on giving it a try. I haven't started it yet, but I might start it tonight or in the next few days. I think it's a great idea. It's cool exercise for artists, drawing a different thing each day, as listed on the graphic at that link. If you don't have anything else to draw on one of those days, you've got your challenge of the day on that list. So, that's one of the cool things about it. I'm plan to get started on it soon, and if you'd like to, you can take the challenge also (Terri). Works Cited Terri. 30 Day Art Challenge . Doctor Who Series 7 Premiere

I posted a journal entry on my deviantART page about the seventh series premiere of Doctor Who, and an idea I have for Doctor Who art.
