Five-Minute Marker Sketch

View this post on Instagram Sometimes I like to limit myself to no more than 5-minutes for a sketch, which forces me to only focus on the essential lines. #sketch #draw #drawing #art #artist #christopherhart #christopherhart A post shared by Christopher Hart (@christopher_hart_books) on Sep 27, 2018 at 4:06pm PDT I may want to try doing a five-minute marker sketch some time.

Art Skills

I'm studying Christopher Hart's book titled Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy. I've come a long way in my art skills, but I think there might still be some room to fine tune my skills. Christopher Hart authors a lot of great how-to drawing books. I think that nowadays his books might be the first ones I think of when I want to work on my skills as an artist.

Super Freddy

"Super Freddy" This is a drawing I did for a contest that author Christopher Hart is holding on deviantART. I drew it earlier this week. Yesterday I inked it and colored it with color pencils. The contest is almost over, but here is Christopher Hart's journal entry describing it.

Miscellaneous Musings

Image
First off, it's the latter part of 2015 and I still haven't created a new deviantID for my deviantART page yet. I haven't had any ideas for it. I know that when I do come up with something, I'm not going to date it like my current one. Until then, I'll either leave the current one up or I might use an old one in it's place. Christopher Hart has a YouTube page. You can check it out at www.youtube.com/user/chrishart… . He has some cool videos on there. He has a lot of videos about how to draw this and that. He's also on here, as you can see from the icon at the beginning of this paragraph. He's got a great sense of humor and he's a pro at drawing and teaching people how to draw with his how-to-draw books. I'm currently reading his book titled The Master Guide to Drawing Anime . He's an inspiration to me and everyone else who reads his books. Grimm: The Coins of Zakynthos graphic novel I'm currently reading the graphic novel titled G...

How to Draw a Kangaroo and Joey (Step By Step) By Christopher Hart

Image
I like watching videos like this on YouTube sometimes. I think, especially for an artist like me, it's inspiring to see other artists at work drawing or painting, or whatever. I like to see how they start the artwork, and build it up from there. It's really interesting.

Book Reviews And Things

I did a book review of Modern Cartooning for Christopher Hart awhile back. I'm thinking about doing more book reviews/recommendations, in the near future. I might also post things like videos from artists on You Tube. There are some cool videos on there of artists drawing. Sometimes the videos are sped up because it takes quite awhile to do the drawings. I may try to do more blogging in the new year, and those are some of the things I have in mind.

Greg

Image
"Greg" I drew this based on some of what I've learned from Christopher Hart's book Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy . I named the character Greg. Greg seems to be a popular name. There's Greg Proops, Greg House, Greg or Dharma and Greg . Humany Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy is a great book!

Dave

Image
"Dave" I've done some studying of Christopher Hart's book, Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy . I intend to do more studying of it. I think I have the part about drawing a human head memorized pretty well. I drew this picture from my memory of what Christopher Hart teaches in the book. I might go back and darken the shading on the neck later. I think either I didn't shade it dark enough, or it faded when I enhanced it in paint shop. Christopher Hart's book, Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy , is great!

Jack Miller Thinks Of Pizza

Image
"Jack Miller Thinks Of Pizza" With this drawing, I tried out an expression that Christopher Hart teaches in his book titled Modern Cartooning . I added the thought about pizza so he wouldn't just be standing there. I also added some vertical lines to his collar. Usually I don't draw any lines on the collars of the cartoon characters I draw. Modern Cartooning is a great book!

Christopher Hart

I recommend keeping up to date on Christopher Hart's work on ChristopherHartBooks.com . Christopher Hart is a professional artist and author. As I believe I've mentioned before, you can follow him on deviantART and Facebook. He posts some funny, wacky multiple choice questions, and he talks about making it as a professional artist. I've read some of his how-to books and they're very helpful to me as an artist. His latest book is How to Get Published as a Manga Artist . I recommend checking that out as well. It can be very helpful not only to manga artists, but other artists as well.

Art Books

I was thinking about art books earlier. There are a lot of great how-to books on art. They cover drawing, painting, etc. Some that come to mind for comic book artists are Comics And Sequential Art by Will Eisner, How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way by Stan Lee and John Buscema, and any book by Christopher Hart. You can learn a lot about how to draw comics from those books. Those guys are experts, and they know a lot about how to draw comics.
