This is mainly an art blog, but seeing as how comics and comic book movies have been inspiration for my art, I figure I can blog comic book movie reviews sometimes. Here's my most recent one: My dad and I saw Captain America: Civil War . I figured it was going to be a great movie before I saw it, and I don’t think either my dad or I were let down. It was phenomenal! The special effects were great. There’s one scene that’s especially awesome but I won’t spoil it. The cast is great. It was great to see Paul Rudd as Ant-Man again. You probably know by now that Spider-Man was in it, and the way he was introduced was excellent! Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther was amazing. He had some great scenes in the movie, maybe some of the best. The story is great. It’s based on the Civil War storyline in the comics. This movie is epic! I think it’s the best Marvel movie yet. There was drama, action, comedy, and some heartfelt moments in this movie. I can’t wait to own this movie on Bluray or...

Avengers: Age of Ultron is epically awesome! James Spader gave Ultron a lot of personality. As far as "the twins," the Maximoff siblings, it makes sense now why they joined Ultron against the Avengers, and it wasn't his personality. Their tragic past brings them into conflict with the Avengers. I thought it was cool that Jim Rhodes and Sam Wilson are in the movie. They have substantial parts in it. The romance between Bruce Banner and Natasha Roma ... noff was pretty interesting. There was lots of action throughout the movie. There was lots of Hulk! I think the way the action was choreographed in this movie and the previous one is brilliant and exciting. I think it's on a much bigger scale in this new one. It was great to see The Vision introduced in this movie. Paul Bettany did a great job of bringing him to life. Ultron is a tough villain who keeps coming at the Avengers. All in all, it's an action packed movie with some touching moments, some humor, some drama...

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an excellent movie! It's an epic film with an ensemble cast. In my opinion, X-Men is always awesome. Add to that time travel, and it's beyond awesome! It's cool to see some of the cast from X-Men First Class , and some of the cast from the other X-Men movies, come together. It's exciting! It's all about the fate of mutant, and even human kind. Mystique plays a very important part in this movie, and I think that's cool. There has never been much focus on her in the movies. Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Mystique is really phenomenal. Wolverine also plays a big part in this movie and I think it's always cool to see him. Hugh Jackman has done a fantastic job of translating Wolverine to film over the years. James McAvoy gives a very dramatic portrayal of Professor Xavier. I could go on and on. There are lots of characters in this movie, and they're portrayed greatly by their actors. Godzilla is back, and bigger than ever! This time he's a hero. This movie is epic. There's a history behind the hero and the villains in this movie. There are epic battles that cause mass destruction. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays a very important part in this movie. He's the human hero in this. The cast also includes Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, and others. This movie is packed with action and moments of drama. Godzilla is HUGE! This is a very well-made movie. And it's different from the 1997 film. I personally liked that one, but this one is more sophisticated I think. Brian Cranston also stars in this movie, and I think you'll be surprised where his character ends up in the movie. To see Godzilla on the movie screen is an amazing experience. I think the fact that it's on the movie screen helps to make you feel like you're in the movie. This movie is epic, amazing, and thrilling! I very much recommend you check out Godzilla . The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a great follow-up to the first movie! It really captures the spirit of the comics. Spider-Man wearing a fireman’s helmet and using a fire hose is the kind of thing I would expect in the comics. The characters are great. Jamie Foxx did a great job as Electro. His portrayal of a nerdy Spider-Man fan turned super villain was fantastic. Dane Dehaan as Harry Osborn was great. He was sympathetic but also there was a mean streak to him. I thought Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich, a.k.a Rhino, was really cool. The mechanical suit is different from the comics, but it works. Returning cast members Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Sally Field once again gave great performances. There’s one character in particular that I think everyone should watch out for. After my dad and I saw The Dark Knight Rises, I was hungering for a new Batman comic to read. This one actually came out last year, but I hadn't gotten it until very recently. I'd read Joker, which Lee Bermejo had done the art for, and I'd really been look forward to reading Batman: Noel the first chance I got. Lee's art is amazing as always. I love the way he interprets The Joker and Batman, the Batmobile, the cityscape. Everything looks fantastic in this book. Lee is not only an immensely talented artist, but also an extremely talented writer as well. The story of A Christmas Carol is told as events unfold involving Batman, The Joker, and a character named Bob. Batman runs into some friends, and enemies, on his mission, and similarities are implied between the Christmas story and Batman's mission. My dad and I saw The Dark Knight Rises, and it is truly a masterpiece! It was great to see all those characters back on the big screen. Anne Hathaway was great as Catwoman, and I think the costume looked great. Tom Hardy was menacing as Bane. Marion Cotillard was great as Miranda Tate, and if you haven't seen the movie yet, I'll just say that there's more to her character than meets the eye. The regular cast was great as usual, and Christopher Nolan and Crew as awesome as ever as well. Hans Zimmer's score was fantastic. It's an epic movie. This is Batman and his world as you've never seen them before in the movies. It's a great story, and it's very exciting. Considering that this is supposedly Christopher Nolan's last Batman movie, it's a bitter sweet. It's sad that it's the last of this incarnation of Batman on film, but it's an immensely enjoyable installment in the series. Now having seen the entire trilogy, I feel like checking...

I saw The Amazing Spider-man tonight with my dad. It's AWESOME! If they insisted on rebooting Spider-man, I think they did it the right way. I was a little concerned beforehand because I read that there was no wrestling scene, no speaking the line "with great power comes great responsibility," and the costume wasn't exactly like the one in the comics, although it was an awesome costume. But, despite those concerns, I think it was an amazing movie, pun intended. They did include those elements of the origin, in a way, by the way. Just not in the same way as in the comics. Some people have been comparing it to the Sam Raimi movies. I think Sam Raimi and Marc Webb's versions of Spidey are each great in their own ways. I am definitely looking forward to a sequel to The Amazing Spider-man .

I saw The Avengers with my dad. It was WAY BEYOND AWESOME!!!! I'm not sure how much I can say without giving anything away, but this is a must-see movie. This is the best Marvel Comics movie ever in my opinion. I think it's in my top five favorite movies of all time. I think it will be one of my most memorable movie experiences ever. I hope they don't waste too much time getting the sequel made.

I'm done with the script and layout stages of The Drawing Board number 14. The details are up next, then coloring. So that's what's going on with TDB . I'm currently reading Michael Uslan's book The Boy Who Loved Batman . Michael Uslan has been the producer on all the Batman movies since Batman in 1989. He's a huge lifelong comic book fan. He's taught a college course on comic books at Indiana University. He's Batman comics. He was one of the people at the very first comic book convention, which was in New York. This book really appeals to me as a comic book guy. Also, Michael Uslan getting the 1989 Batman movie made is partly why I'm such a huge comic book fan and Batman fan, and an artist. Comic books, especially the comic book movie Batman of 1989, inspired me to become an artist and pursue art as a career. I'm almost halfway through the book right now. It's a really interesting book, and I recommend it.

My dad and I saw Captain America: the First Avenger at the theater, and it was FREAKING AWESOME!!! It's very true to the comics. I thought the way Chris Evans portrayed Captain America was great. I like the kind of character that Cap is. I like that he's in the tradition of the old school heroes around that time. Cap had such a great spirit even as scrawny Steve Rogers. The rest of the cast was great too. It was cool to see Tommy Lee Jones in it. Hayley Atwell was beautiful and intriguing as Peggy Carter. Bucky and Howard Stark were cool. The rest of the supporting cast were great as well. Joe Johnston has a knack for period movies, having directed The Rocketeer and The Wolfman remake. He really captured the spirit of the era. This was an amazing movie! By the way, I suggest that you stay after the credits. Some people left during the credits. I was, and I think the rest of the people who stayed were, aware that there would be a trailer for The Avengers movie after the cred...

My dad and I just saw the Green Lantern movie and it's FREAKING AWESOME!!! I can pretty much always tell if I'll like a movie before I even see it, just by watching the commercials. It exceeded my expectations. I know that there have been some negative reviews. Reviews are opinions, and I usually never agree with them anyway. Reviews, that is. My advice is to go see it for yourself. I personally think it's one of the best superhero movies, or comic book movies, or movies in general, that I've ever seen in my entire life. What's most important to me is whether I personally like it (and in fact I LOVE it), just as what's probably most important to you is whether you personally like it. My dad liked it too. He said it was more exciting than the Thor movie. All that being said, I hope more people will go see it and appreciate it, and that it will do extremely well at the box office. It's only been out for four days, so there's probably still time for it to...

My dad and I saw Thor at the theater. It's a great movie. Thor is awesome beyond words! I figured Thor would be especially great with Kenneth Branagh directing, and it is. I won't give anything away in case you haven't seen it yet, but I think it's one of the best Marvel Comics movies, and comic book movies in general, ever. I think I might do a Thor drawing soon.
